Friday Meanderings: Ayahuasca, Dua Lipa, and Halloween Vibes

As Helen Keller once wrote, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” And it has certainly been a bit of a daring adventure here in The Cosmobiologist realm of late. Read on for a small taste of the current vibes.

BTW, I’m so thankful for those who are taking the journey with me and sharing about your own experiences along the way. It’s awesome hearing from you on the topics and ideas I’ve been writing about (please keep that coming!).

Journeys

• This past weekend, I engaged in a plant-based meditation ceremony primarily focused on the use of ayahuasca as part of the journey. I have a lot of notes and ideas to share on that front (so much so that it might have to become its own essay at some point). I can say that this week has been one of integration and healing for me—and the experience has certainly led me to hope for much of the same for others as well. Honestly, every single day of this past week has brought some incredible new insights, and I have the plants and the ceremony to thank for that.

• My online astrobiology course for Atlas Obscura starts this coming week. There’s still plenty of time to sign up and take part. I’m super excited to get into a wide range of topics in astrobiology, Origins of Life, space exploration, and more.

• There’s also still a small bit of time left to register for the Exoplanets in Our Backyard meeting in Kentucky in two weeks. This gathering will be a small workshop (roughly 100 or so attendees) where we will discuss topics related to current exoplanet research. For me, I’m most excited to hear about all of the progress on the Habitable Worlds Observatory space telescope that is in the works.

• I’ll be presenting on The Panzoic Effect and alien life at the XPANSE meeting in Abu Dhabi in November.
